Let’s Spread the Smiles Across the Miles

Hello my friends!  I wanted to thank everyone for contributing to this vision of mine through the past few years.  It really means a lot to me!!  Creating this site was one of the ways that I’ve found to help me honor the memory of my mom, and subsequently my dad.

be-the-reason

I still feel a deep aching through my core at the thought of missing my parents and of the way that they both suffered at the end of their lives.  It was important for me to reach out to my friends, family and virtual friends to help me bring a smile to my mom’s face so she wouldn’t feel so alone.  The kind words from strangers gave her comfort.  It didn’t matter to her that most of the cards came from strangers.  Just hearing words of encouragement when someone is suffering can make the world of difference.

Miss You passion Relationship Romantic Concept

I find comfort in adding some sunshine to others who need it.  I started this site so that others could join me in sending cards to people dealing with cancer or another illness to put smiles on their faces.  The problem is, I can’t seem to get people to submit names and addresses of their friends and loved ones.  That’s where you all come in…  Please share this post on all of your social media.  It’s easy to do with the little rectangle buttons at the bottom of this post.

If you know someone who could benefit from receiving cards to make them smile, sign them up!  Please go to the top of this post and fill out my simple form for recipient information.  In addition, if you’d like to a part of my card sending/smile sending group then click at the top to be a sender.  The more the merrier and the more happiness we can spread.

Together we can make a difference!

What Can You Do to Help This Site?

Hi Everyone!

I haven’t forgotten about this site and what it’s here for.  Unfortunately, we’re not getting the word out often enough that we’re here to bring smiles to others through our showering of cards.

Please help me by sharing this post on your social media accounts.  It would be wonderful if we continue to send encouraging cards to those who need them.  I know first hand how wonderful it is to know that others are thinking of you when your facing cancer or another illness.

Share this with your friends and co-workers and hopefully we’ll be back on track to sending out our cards.

Thank you!!

Birthday Cards for Lexys

I don’t normally post our card recipients on this site for public viewing.  However, this request was posted in the newspaper therefore I feel comfortable posting it here.  If you’re not already signed up to send cards with Give A Smile Today, please come over to the site and do so.  It’s a rewarding experience.  I promise!

This week’s card recipient is a little girl who is about to turn 6 years old on August 27th. She has an inoperable brain tumor that is cancerous. Her family says she is achy and the tumor is pressing on her eye. Her wish is to have birthday cards sent to her.  Let’s do this friends!!  Send cards to this little girl and make her birthday wish come true!

Please send birthday cards to:

Lexys Lamp
1536 May St
Dearborn, MI 48124

**REMINDERS**
1. Send an encouraging card or note to each person listed (if possible). You are welcome to add a small gift or token of some kind if you would like (this is not required).
2. Try to send your cards within about 10 days of receiving this email.
3. Only send positive thoughts. Do not share any of your own personal information, illness or struggles.
4. Spread the word!! This is how we can grow and help as many people as possible. We are always looking for more people to send cards to. Think about the people in your social circles and recommend someone who might benefit from our cards.
5. Please write: Give A Smile Today above your name on the return address on your envelopes. This will help the recipient to know that their card is from our group.

Thanks so much!
Stacie

Let’s Send More Cards

Hi Everyone!

I apologize for not updating this site on a regular basis.  I promise to be better at that.  I just wanted to let everyone know that we’re going strong with sending out cards to those who need them.  We have over 100 people who are signed up as Senders.  Whenever we receive a request for cards I send out an email to our group.  It’s quite simple.

If you know someone who has cancer or another illness who could use a showering of encouraging cards, PLEASE sign them up!  Simply go to the top of this site and click on the “Sign Up to Receive Cards” tab.  Enter the recipients information and et us take care of the rest.  We love helping to bring me sunshine into the lives of others.

Have a great day!!

Let’s Do This!

With the 2 year mark of my mom’s passing I feel ready to really get this site going.  Can you help?  We need people to send cards to.  Do you know someone who is currently enduring treatment for cancer or another illness?  I personally know how wonderful it is to receive cards from others.  It really does put a smile on the face of someone going through tough times.

Or perhaps you would like to help spread the smiles.  Sign up to be one of our “senders.”  Either way, I’m just so happy that you’re stopping by.  If you can recommend ways for me to grow this site and this project of mine I’d love to hear them.  Please send me an email anytime.

Please share this post on your social media and hopefully we can get this going strong.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!

If you have the desire to encourage others with a meaningful gesture (just sending a card or a note) then PLEASE sign up to “Send a Smile.”  We’d love to have you join our group!

Let’s Get Fired Up!

I hope everyone’s been doing well with the change of seasons.  The past few days have been rainy, dreary and cool here in Texas.  My daughters and I are getting ready for another Melanoma Walk here in the Dallas area.  If you are in Texas (or anywhere) and want to come walk in the Miles for Melanoma on November 2, 2013 they would LOVE to have you.  There is a Fun Run as well as a 5K.  Please use the link listed below to find out more and register if you can.

I’m currently working on ways to get more recipients for us to send our encouraging cards to.  Again, if you know someone with cancer or another illness, please sign them up so that we can spread some smiles!!

Thanks again for all that you do!!

Calling All Kind Hearted Souls!

Hi Everyone!

We have a mission…  Ashley has been in the hospital for most of the summer.  She is a beautiful 27 year old woman battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer.  She had more surgery this week to remove some of the cancer that has been causing so much pain for her.  Her husband has requested that we flood her hospital room with cards.

Let’s ALL do this!  Feel free to share with your friends, family and social media sites.  Please send ASAP!  Thank you so much!
